About Dr. Stern

I am a clinical psychologist, licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey. I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan with a wide variety of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, perinatal adjustment, concerns related to infertility, chronic health issues, executive functioning deficits, and sleep concerns. In addition, I provide parent consultations to caregivers looking to navigate issues related to picky eating, sleep training, toilet training, behavioral difficulties, development, and attachment-related issues.

Experience & Training

In addition to my private practice, I am an Instructor in Clinical Medical Psychology (in Psychiatry) in the Department of Psychiatry at the Columbia University Medical Center and a Clinical Psychologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where I provide direct clinical services and participate in the training of psychologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and medical students.

I received my B.S. in Psychology from Tufts University (summa cum laude) and my doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. I completed my APA-accredited Internship in Health Service Psychology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Other clinical training experiences include the Behavioral Health College Partnership at Zucker Hillside Hospital (Northwell), Columbia Day Program at Columbia Doctors, New York State Office of Mental Health, and The Youth Anxiety and Depression Clinic at Rutgers University.

I have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and am certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and PCIT-Toddler. I wrote my dissertation on infant and toddler sleep coaching and have been quoted in the Washington Post for this work.

Prior to training as a clinical psychologist, I was a research assistant at Judge Baker Children’s Center, Harvard Medical School.
